How do I register my nick?
To register your nickname, use the following syntax:
/msg NickServ REGISTER password email
Example: /msg NickServ REGISTER mypassword you@validemail.com
Note: The email address must be a valid email address you can use, and password must be a valid password (i.e., it cannot be your nickname or less than 5 characters long).
After issuing that command, an email will be dispatched with a confirmation code to your email address from service@rizon.net. Copy and paste the codes within 24 hours from your email address you just registered to complete the registration process; otherwise the nick will be available for others to register:
/msg nickserv confirm confirmationCode
TROUBLESHOOTING Wrong Email: If you entered a wrong email address in your nick registration, you can issue the following command and then re-register your nickname:
/msg nickserv cancel password
(password is the password you used to register your nick before)
Lost Password: If you have lost your password, you can issue the following command:
/msg nickserv resetpass nickname
After which, you will receive an email with instructions on how to reset your password.
Expired Nick: Registered nicks will expire after 90 days of inactivity; i.e., you must IDENTIFY the nickname before the expiration date:
/msg nickserv identify password
How can I Private Message another user?
Use the "/query" command to specify that every message you type should be directed to a single user:
If the other user also specifies a "/query" command to you, then all of the messages you type will be displayed only to each other. You can still monitor the ongoing public conversations in the channel.
Use the "/query" command by itself to turn off the private channel:
